This is a log of Darius' meeting to discuss a new book that had recently been published.

You ask, "Where is beed that-tin-boss-furry?"
You tap your foot impatiently.

Koryn gestures at a marble arch.
Koryn says, "In his office no doubt."
Father Koryn's group went through a marble arch.

[Paladins' Guild, Guild Leader's Office]
Despite the dark, foreboding atmosphere in this office, it is strangely comforting.  A large cave bear hide lies on the floor in front of a small fireplace.  Off to the side, a comfortable looking chair is placed adjacent to a bookcase and a small table.  A large desk sits directly opposite the fireplace and fills out the room's meager, but functional, furnishings.  You also see a simple brass stand with a guild register on it and the Paladin Guildleader Darius.
Also in the room: Father Koryn.
Obvious exits: out.

Koryn gestures at the Paladin Guildleader Darius.

You curtsy.
Koryn says, "Still hard at work with the paperwork it seems."

Koryn says, "No doubt waiting for the council members to arrive."
You say, "you-boss-furry is sposed for beed wifth meeting, now, proby."

You nod to the Paladin Guildleader Darius.

Koryn says, "Working till the last minute."
Father Koryn's group just went out.

[Paladins' Guild, Meeting Hall]
Light shines in from above through a large skylight placed in the ceiling of this grand hall.  All of the chairs have been arranged in a circle, representing the symbolic equality of all guild members.  Mounted above the doorway, a shining silver broadsword points skyward.  You also see an armored sentry, an arched doorway, a waste bin fashioned out of used shields, a marble arch, and an elaborate parchment scroll.
Also in the room: Father Koryn.
Obvious exits: east, west, out.

Koryn smiles.

Guildleader Darius just arrived.
Darius bows.
Darius says, "Good evening."

Koryn bows to Darius.
Koryn says, "Good evening Sir Darius."

Darius asks, "How are you this evening?"

You curtsy awkwardly to Darius, your ankles wobbling as you try not to fall.

You see Guildleader Darius Borrelas, a Human Paladin.
He has hazel eyes.  His dark brown hair is shoulder length and wavy, and is worn loose.  He has fair skin.
He is middle-aged for a Human.
He is clean shaven.
He is in good shape.

He is wearing a kyanite gwethdesuan, a jadeite gwethdesuan, some black leather boots, a well-tailored black tunic trimmed with fine gold stitching, a brown leather belt with an elaborate gold buckle, an exquisite smoke-grey surcoat bearing the Borrelas family crest and a filigreed greatsword sheath.

Darius nods to you.
Koryn says, "Well thank you, we did not wish to disturb you so opted to wait here as opposed to your office."
Koryn gestures at a marble arch.

Darius says, "Thank you.  I appreciate it."
Darius says, "I see that Oane and Councilor Asilias are late."
Koryn says, "You're quite welcome."
Darius says, "I wonder if they ran into any trouble on the road."

Koryn raises an eyebrow.
Darius says, "It's not like them to be late for something like a meeting."
Koryn ponders.
Darius says, "And Oane seemed somewhat anxious to meet with me."

You say to Darius, "those-furrys is proby getted turnip."

Koryn asks, "Which way were they travelling from?"
Koryn gets a visored chain helm from inside his backpack.
Koryn puts a visored chain helm on his head.
Koryn gets some mail gloves from inside his backpack.
Koryn slips some mail gloves onto his hands.

Darius says, "They live up north.  Therefore, I suspect they would be coming from that direction."
Koryn nods in agreement.

Koryn says, "Yes, of course..."
Koryn ponders.
Koryn stops you from following him.
Koryn joins your group.
Koryn says, "I suppose,  searching for them may be a good idea."

Koryn ponders.

You say to Koryn, "this-Toggette is all ways lots-losted."

You giggle.

Koryn nods to you.
Koryn smiles.

Darius says, "Perhaps we should meet them at the gate."

Koryn says, "Yes, of course."
Koryn nods to Darius.
Koryn just left your group.

Koryn clasps your hand tenderly.
Koryn stretches out a hand imploringly to Darius.
Darius joins Koryn's group.
Father Koryn's group just went out.


Father Koryn's group went through the Northeast Gate.
[Northeast Wilds, Outside Northeast Gate]
You are before the Northeast Gate of the Crossing, surrounded by wayfarers and adventurers also in mid-journey.  Above, guardsmen stare down from the thick stone wall that encloses the city, wary for hostile visitors.  Whether they travel to destinations in town or farther west, or to the north and east, they all appear to be seeking something beyond themselves.  You also see a black cat who is sitting, a leaning weathered roadsign, a bucket of viscous gloop, a narrow footpath, a large firepit, a hardened woven basket with a sturdy lid, a smooth timber bench, a small bench that is low to the ground, a very long bench, and a tall bench.

Obvious paths: north, east, southeast.

Allina's right leg scars look better.

You say, "O. May beed is notted beed losted to goed from gate-place."

You beam!
Andysta exclaims, "Koryn!!"

Andysta just hugged Koryn.

Koryn says, "Good evening Lady Andy."
You notice as a black cat begins purring.
Darius says, "Good evening everyone."

Khisanth grins.
Khisanth nods to Koryn.
Koryn bows to Andysta.
Darius bows.
Khisanth says, "Lord "
Andysta beams!
Allina smiles at Koryn.
Khisanth says, "Lord Darius"

Darius asks, "Has anyone seen two older looking gentlemen walking by?"

Allina bobs a quick curtsy to Darius.
Koryn says, "The pleasure is mine Master Khisanth."
Darius says, "One is Human and the other Elf."
Khisanth asks, "Older than me?"
Allina shakes her head.

Andysta says, "I have not been here long I'm afraid."
Khisanth says, "nor I"
Allina says, "I have been sitting here a while and I did not notice anyone."

You ask Andysta, "those-furrys is proby gotted losted from finded turnip, rite?"
You notice as a black cat begins purring.

Andysta grins at you.
Khisanth asks, "Is there a problem m'lord?"
Khisanth says, "Midnight"

Andysta says to you, "Anything is possible when turnips are involved."
Khisanth glances at a black cat.

You nod at Andysta, in complete agreement with her views.
Khisanth pets his black cat.

Koryn says to Khisanth, "It appears the Councilor and his companion are late to a meeting with Sir Darius, which is very much unlike them."
You sigh forlornly.

Khisanth says, "The councilor/"
Allina asks Darius, "You are a Lord?"

Allina peers quizzically at Darius.

Khisanth smiles.
Koryn says, "Yes, Councilor Asilias."
Darius says, "I am but a humble guildleader."

You notice as a black cat meows loudly.
Allina says, "I thought Zoluren had a Pr.."
Allina says, "Ah"
Khisanth says, "He's the leader of the Crossing Paladins"

Khisanth nods to Allina.
You chatter away..

Darius says, "Darius, at your service."
Andysta asks Darius, "Perhaps we can help search for them?"
Khisanth asks, "could you describe him?"
Allina says, "An upstanding pillar of the community.."
Andysta smiles at Darius.
Darius bows to Allina.

Khisanth glances at Darius.
Allina says, "I am Allina"
Khisanth glances at Koryn.
Allina bobs a quick curtsy to Darius.

Koryn says, "I don't believe I've ever met him, and if I have, it's been so long I'm sure he's changed in appearance."

Allina says, "A very junior member of the Bard guild."
Khisanth smiles.
Allina ponders.

Darius says, "Although Oane is getting on in his..."
Darius says, "Maturity."
Andysta grins at Darius.

Darius says, "Perhaps he's just lost."
Allina laughs softly, trying to hide her amusement.
Khisanth nods.

Allina says, "Spoken like a true Paladin."
Andysta says to Darius, "Very tactfuly said sir"
Khisanth says, "I'll send Midnight to locate them"

You notice a black cat rub against you for a moment.
Khisanth says, "I'll have her look for any men of great .  . . maturity"

Allina says, "I didnt think guildleader were allowed outside of the guild.."

Allina asks, "How did you escape?"
Allina grins slowly at Darius.
Darius says, "It's not very busy this late."
A black cat stands back up.
A black cat prances north.

Andysta smiles at Darius.

Khisanth gets a distant look on his face.
Andysta says, "I know most of my favorite Paladins have been off on business elsewhere."

Allina says, "So in other words, you snuck out."
Allina looks at Darius, obviously trying not to grin.
Andysta says, "I've sorely missed taking care of them."
Andysta grins at Darius.

You say to Allina, "Boss-furrys is some time go lookded for turnip so is can givded prize for hard-worky furrys and togs. "
Khisanth gets a distant look on his face.
Allina smiles at you.


You see Allina, a Human Bard.

You cannot make out her features with the clothing she is wearing.
She is in good shape.

She is wearing a violet linen cloak embroidered along the edges with jewel-hued wildflowers, a calf-length skirt, a sturdy lavender backpack, a medium case, a glazed ironwood crossbow, some leather greaves, a fitted leather coat, a simple cotton shirt and a target shield.
Khisanth gets a distant look on his face.

Allina asks, "Turnips?"
Khisanth says, "Ahh"
Andysta raises an eyebrow in Khisanth's direction.

You nod.

Koryn removes an articulated gold bracer studded with cambrinth lightning bolts from his wrist.

Darius says, "I'm getting slightly worried.  I'll give them just a bit more before I send out a search party."
Koryn nods to Darius.

Oane's group just arrived.

Oane blinks at Darius.
Oane exclaims, "Darius!"
Oane exclaims, "You old dog!"

Asilias bows to Darius.

Oane bows to Darius.
Andysta grins.

You ask, "did that kitty-mans finded lots-losted furrys?"

Darius asks, "Dog?"
Darius raises an eyebrow.

Asilias says, "Greetings Sir Darius."
Andysta says to Darius, "There you go"

Koryn blinks at Oane.

You see Oane Hannitraulm, a Human Paladin.
He has black eyes.  He is bald, with pale skin.
He is venerable for a Human.
He has a thick bushy mustache that droops heavily on his upper lip and a long shaggy beard.
He is in good shape.

He is wearing a black linen bag, a blue linen tabard dyed with the bright green emblem of the lion of Chadatru, some brass-riveted jousting plate, a pair of burgundy leather boots lined in soft black wool and a dark grey messenger's satchel reinforced with thick black leather.
Darius bows to Asilias.
Khisanth nods.
Koryn attaches an articulated gold bracer studded with cambrinth lightning bolts to his wrist.

Khisanth says, "Aye"
Darius says, "Councilor."

Oane winks at Darius.

You exclaim, "heyo furrys!"
The black cat purrs, "They were quite rude in ignoring me though"

You give an awkward curtsy, nearly falling!
Koryn smiles.

Darius asks, "Oane, my old friend, did you get lost?"
Andysta scratches Khisanth's black cat.
Oane exclaims, "Of course I did!"

Khisanth says, "Midnight, behave yourself"
Oane says, "Wouldn't be me if I hadn't."
Asilias says, "smile"

You beam at Oane!
Andysta says, "They just didn't realize what a remarkabe specimen you are Midnight."
The black cat purrs, "Well they did"

Allina smiles at Asilias.
Khisanth mutters cryptically to himself.

Darius says, "You're normally punctual."

You say, "Toggette is all ways lots losted all so."
Allina chuckles at Asilias.

Allina asks, "Is this a new game?"

Andysta chortles softly at some secret joke.
Allina peers quizzically at Asilias.
Asilias grumbles.
Oane says, "Well, Asilias's Elven feet had to stop to rest a couple times."
Oane just nudged Asilias.

Asilias pokes Oane in the ribs.

Darius says, "I see."

Andysta grins at Oane.
Asilias says, "You're always getting lost my friend.  But usually you chuckle after it."
Darius asks, "Shall we go back to the guildhall then?"
Khisanth says something in Gerenshuge.
The black cat sits down.
Khisanth sighs.
Koryn nods to Darius.
Oane nods.
Oane joins Koryn's group.
Asilias nods to Darius.

Koryn says, "Yes, of course Sir Darius."

Allina ponders.

Allina says, "I dont think they would get my jokes."
Asilias says, "Thank you."
Andysta asks, "Could any woman resist a gathering of Paladins?"
Andysta chortles softly at some secret joke.
Koryn chuckles.
Oane says, "Anyone is certainly welcome."

You ponder.
You notice as a black cat meows loudly.

Allina asks Andysta, "In or out of the armor?"
Khisanth says, "I'm not sure that I would fit amongst such paragons of virtue"
Khisanth grins.

Oane says, "While this does affect paladins, I think we could use anyone's perspective."
Andysta looks at Allina and blushes.
Koryn grins at Khisanth.

Asilias says, "Yes.  Perhaps the more minds the better."
Asilias nods.

Allina raises her voice in merry laughter.
Koryn stretches out a hand imploringly to Khisanth.
Andysta says, "Hmmm ... you've gotten me curious now."
Allina asks Andysta, "Does that mean without?"
Andysta joins Koryn's group.

Khisanth asks, "Are ye sure that ye want me to come along?"
Allina shrugs.
Allina joins Koryn's group.

Khisanth says, "I might sully something or other"
Khisanth grins.

Koryn says to Khisanth, "You're being kidnapped, as a representative of the Steel Dove, and your people, I'm sure Elotheans would be absolutely mortified to find out you missed a meeting of the minds."
Khisanth says, "But I must say this could be entertaining"

Khisanth takes a blackened steel spiked helm embossed in bronze off his head.
Khisanth puts his helm in his traveler's rucksack.

Oane says, "I'm sorry everyone.  I haven't really introduced myself."
Koryn takes a visored chain helm off his head.
Oane blushes a bright red color.

Koryn puts his helm in his backpack.
Oane says, "My name is Oane."

Koryn pulls off some mail gloves from his hands.
Oane says, "I'm the guild researcher for the Paladin Guild."

Koryn puts his gloves in his backpack.

As Khisanth's plate gauntlets appear to slide off of his hands by themselves, the silver sigils on the backs of the gauntlets flicker once and then fade.

Khisanth puts his gauntlets in his traveler's rucksack.
Oane asks, "Has anyone here read my latest book?"
Oane preens.  Someone's pleased with himself!
Oane says, "I was very proud of that."
Khisanth glances at Oane.
Allina says, "A pleasure to meet you Oane.  I am Allina, Bard in the making."

You beam at Oane!
Khisanth asks, "The title?"
Asilias says, "It is a great piece of work."
Khisanth glances at Oane.
Oane says, ""Faith and Soul""
Khisanth says, "ahh"

You say, "Smart-tin-furry."
Allina ponders.
Koryn says, "I'm afraid I have not, I've been busy on church business, but it is most certainly at the top of my "must read" list."
Andysta says, "I haven't had the pleasure I don't believe.  But as I am making my way through the library ... I shall seek it out."

Oane says, "Only Lady Snow's guildhall has a copy at this time."

Oane asks, "Darius, did you get to read it?"
Darius says, "I read one of your middle drafts, yes."
Oane nods to Darius.
Allina whispers something to Khisanth.
Oane says, "And this is my companion Asilias.  He is one of the newer councilors for the Paladin Guild."
Allina whispers something to Khisanth.
Asilias says, "Greetings."

Koryn holds hands with Adryanna.
Allina says, "A pleasure."
Adryanna says, "Good to see you all."
Khisanth says something in Gerenshuge.
Oane says, "Asilias's work has assisted me with my research for many years."

Asilias says, "It is a pleasure to be back with my brothers and sisters again.  Serving justice."

Adryanna says something in Gerenshuge.

Allina asks, "How long did you research your latest book?"

Khisanth nods to Adryanna.
Adryanna asks, "So what did I miss?"

Oane says, "Well uhm"
Asilias says, "Yes, Oane is a true task master and has kept me busy for years."
Koryn says, "Introductions."
Oane says, "I'm going to go with all my life."
Koryn says, "Paladin Guild Researcher Oane."
Allina says, "Thats a long time."

Koryn gestures at Oane.

Oane says, "It was my favorite collection of rituals."
Adryanna curtsies to Oane.

Koryn says, ".....and his assistant a newer member on the Paladin council Sir Asilias."
Koryn gestures at Asilias.
Adryanna curtsies to Asilias.

Asilias bows.
You quietly say to Adryanna, "is beed new-boss furry, and smart-tin-furry, all ways lots losted, but is wroted gud book. "

Adryanna says, "A pleasure "
Adryanna says, "I am Adryanna of the House of the Floating Reed. "
Oane says, "Some of the rituals are real and others are pure rumor."
Koryn nods.

llina asks, "You included the rumors?"
Darius asks, "Is your meeting due to this book Oane?"

Oane nods to Allina.
Oane says, "I chose my favorite ones, real or not."
Oane says, "Yes, Sir Darius.  It involves the book."
Oane asks, "Asilias?"

Asilias says, "Yes.. Back to the reason for our visit."
Asilias coughs.
Darius nods.
Asilias says, "The council has requested we pay you a visit Sir Darius.   We are interested in speaking of your grandfather."

Rich and luxurious, the cave bear hide shows signs of wear only around the edges, as if this trophy had hardly ever been walked on.  Long, sharp teeth fill the bears gaping jaws and closer examination shows they have a faint pinkish tinge.  The eyes of the bear are bright and piercing and you'd almost swear they were looking right at you!

Khisanth glances at Asilias.
Khisanth glances at Darius.
Asilias says, "After the release of Oanes book, it was hinted that perhaps your grandfather could give us some insight into something the book talks of."

You sit down near a small fireplace.
Darius asks, "My grandfather?"

Asilias nods to Darius.
Oane nods to Darius.

Darius says, "Nothing comes to mind.  I don't see any relation between that book and my family."

Oane asks, "Are you absolutely sure?"

Darius ponders.
Darius says, "Far as I know."
Oane says, "Something written in the book."
Oane asks, "Do you remember all the rituals?"

Asilias asks, "Having read the book... nothing comes to mind?"
Darius says, "I believe I remember."
Allina glances at Darius.
Darius says, "There was the Ritual of Hearth."
Darius asks, "That was the one about the home and family right?"

Oane nods to Darius.
Oane asks, "Does that ring any bells?"
Darius says, "Not really."


Allina blinks.
Allina leans against a small fireplace.
Oane asks, "Thirteen Voices?"

Darius asks, "That was the one about the song or poems?"
Asilias asks, "Did your grandfather share stories of his travels or experiences with you?"
Oane says, "Right."

Darius says, "Well my grandfather was a paladin as some of you may know."
Asilias nods.
Darius says, "He told me lots of stories."

Koryn nods.
Darius says, "And I can't think of any in relation..."
Darius asks, "What else was in the book?"

Oane says, "Gosh, I had a couple more in there, but I didn't bring a copy for you to read."
Asilias says, "There is a significance between your grandfather and the book."
Darius exclaims, "Oh wait!"
Asilias ponders.

Darius says, "I do remember something."
Oane raises an eyebrow.
Oane asks, "Yes?"

Asilias glances at Darius.

Darius says, "Nothing to do with your book though."
Darius says, "There was one particular story he used to tell me."
Darius says, "This was different from his other stories."
Darius says, "Most of his stories were about things he did, places he's been, and such."

Oane nods.

Darius says, "But this one was different."
Darius asks, "My, how did it go?"

Oane asks, "Why was it different?"
Darius says, "Because it was an actual child's story."
Guardian Lord Danxiuls just arrived.
Darius says, "My grandfather didn't tell children's strories."
Adryanna curtsies to Danxiuls.

Khisanth nods to Danxiuls.
Danxiuls says, "Excuse my lateness"
Danxiuls raises his hand in a quick salute.
Oane asks, "Interesting.. and do you remember the story?"
Danxiuls blushes a bright red color.

Asilias nods to Danxiuls.
Darius says, "I don't remember it exactly."
Allina glances at Danxiuls.

Darius says, "But let me see..."
Koryn nods.

Darius says, "It was about a young lion who is walking around the wilderness."

You stand back up.

You curtsy awkwardly to Danxiuls, your ankles wobbling as you try not to fall.

Allina whispers something to Andysta.
Darius says, "He comes across a mongoose who appears to be sleeping or resting."

You sit down near a small fireplace.

Darius ponders.

You ponder.
Darius says, "The lion asked him some questions about what the mongoose was doing there."

Dhimani just arrived.
Darius says, "And..."
Darius furrows his brow.

Darius says, "I believe the lion asked it a few times but the mongoose just kept ignoring him."
Dhimani ponders.
Dhimani shakes his head.

Asilias says to Darius, "I may be old, even for an elf... but my mind is as sharp as your blade."
Darius says, "Because he's told me many stories less provoking.  I'm sure he would have told me this."

Oane asks, "He went to the council about this story?"

Khisanth gazes thoughtfully at Asilias.

Asilias says, "This story was put forth before the council.  I remember it now.  Your grandfather thought it was a vison from the Lion."

Darius makes a strange face.
Darius says, "I don't think so."

Adryanna ponders.
Asilias glances at Oane.
Oane says, "Wait a minute"

Oane says, "I've heard this too."
Adryanna glances at Koryn.
Oane says, "But I never heard the story."

Koryn furrows his brow.
Oane asks, "Is he the one who they gave the boot to?"
Darius asks, "The boot?"
Oane says, "Well heh"

Adryanna says, "Pardon my interruption.. But could he have told someone else and they relayed it."
Oane says, "I heard of some paladin who approached the council with a vision and was turned away."

Darius says, "That is not my grandfather.  I am telling you."
Asilias says, "I don't believe they gave him 'the boot' my friend.  But, I do believe the council dismissed the vision as only a story."

Oane says, "I doubt he would have heard the story and passed it off as his own."
Oane says, "He was a very noble man."

Asilias says to Adryanna, "That is a good question.  I do believe it was Sir Darius's grandfather though."
Adryanna says, "I did not mean as his own. I am sorry for my intruption."

Asilias nods at Oane, obviously agreeing with his views.
Oane asks, "Oh that someone else went before the council?"
Oane says, "Hrm"

Oane says, "I suppose that's possible."
Adryanna says, "Yes, that is what I meant, that he told someone and they felt it had enough weight to be brought forward."
Danxiuls asks, "How did this story come before the council in the first place?"
Oane asks, "I didn't know him obviously but if he believed it to be a real vision then why would he tell Darius it was just a story?"

Adryanna says, "Someone brought it to their attention."
Darius says, "He certainly did not pass this off as some dream or vision he had."
Darius says, "Just an allegory for me and my brother."

Koryn says, "Often times those who are devout in their following recieve visions from the immortals. However just as often, they are dismissed by those whom think that only members of the clergy communicate with the immortals."

Andysta says, "Perhaps if others had dismissed its validity ... he decided to keep it quiet and just in the family as something of minor note ... but still felt compelled to share it."

Adryanna says, "More then likely no. But if there is no name on the note there is no reputation to go with it."

You ask, "Not as much, no, but then again I don't think these rituals have been used for many, many years, is that correct?"

Sheltered beneath a camphor tree, a proud basalt lion watches over his stone pride as they lounge in the flower-speckled clearing. One lioness rolls on her back, one sniffs at a clump of lilies, while yet another sculptured lioness licks her cub. Several stone cubs gather around a bronze paladin seated upon a basalt slab. At the north end of the clearing, a grass and bamboo gate closes the path from further exploration.

Each of the dark flagstones paving the Carillon path has been carefully shaped for fit and appearance, which, along with the meticulous care of the plants, lends a formal grace to the gardens. A low border of phlox edges the pathway as it continues north toward the Carillon. Bright hued flowers to the east and west beckon visitors with their color and aroma. You also see a sculpted archway leading into the city.

Supporting the largest vessels from far-away lands, the dock has greeted both smuggler and prince, murderer and king. It continues to perform its duty flawlessly though, without prejudice or regret. You also see the Immortal Hand, an ebony slate, and The Skirr'lolasu Schedule.

A row of columns frames the tall, broad temple building that rises ahead. This small courtyard consists of white pebbles, various aloe planted along the low walls, and a small altar placed against the western wall. A fountain above the altar spills fresh water over its surface, keeping the altar glistening in the bright light. You also see the temple entrance.
