Faenrae charged through the Crossings shouting forth praise to Huldah for several anlaen last night.  Joining them was boggles, grendels and other foul beasts.   Combat waged across all areas of the city as adventurers struggled to keep things under control.

In a moment of confusion, a mage near the center of town unleashed a torrent of lighting that struck down several innocent people running by.  The local watch reports the guilty was fined stiffly for the crime.

During the mayhem, several reports of a deranged singing gnome were made.   The name Verrax spread quickly, and several attempts were made to locate the chanting madman.  Several encounters left people bloodied and broken.  Weapons were dropped as the chanting consumed people – directing them to sit down in the middle of combat and laugh as death fell upon them!

Despite the madness, good prevailed and the gnome was defeated.  A few curious souls dug up the gnome’s belongings and presented them to the Bard Guildleader Silvyrfrost.  She arrived and spoke of a boggle named Twiggy she’d encountered earlier.  Twiggy spoke of the sane faenrae and the insane bards, and how this gnome had taught the faenrae a new song…  This was apparent during the fighting, as faenrae chanters leveled furious shouts against people.

Silvyrfrost claimed that Verrax was a gnome long lost.  Rumor had said this gnome discovered the secret of immortality – at the cost of his sanity.  Years spent amongst the dark fae would probably do that.  She estimated his lifespan as rivaling that of Queen Morganae of the Mountain Elves.  We do not know for sure if this gnome was one and the same, but all signs point to there being some truth to the rumor.

Now that Silvyrfrost has knowledge of the gnome’s chant, there is a chance it might be taught to others in the bard guild.  The ancient shouts being demonstrated by the faenrae are also being studied and might soon become an everyday addition to the bard repertoire.  In the meantime there is a good deal of cleaning up that must take place.   Back to back invasions of undead and cursed monsters have left a pall upon the town during an otherwise exciting time.  Let us hope good times yet await us all!
