race can
more seriously affect how you will interact with other players than you
typically see in Prime or The Fallen.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Certain classes are more suited for being a warrior mage than others,
and in many cases interesting roleplay in Plat can be found using odd
choices.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>A Tog warrior mage m=
ight
not be the most effective combination stat wise, but will sure lead to some=
 fun
times.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Regardless, stats do s=
way
peoples&#8217; choices and here are some thoughts on the classes as follows=
:</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><b style=3D'mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>Kaldar</b>:<s=
pan
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Wisdom, Intelligence +<span class=
=3DGramE>1
;</span> Strength, Stamina -1;<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </spa=
n>I
have found Kaldar to be surprisingly good choices for warrior mages.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Wisdom is a stat with diminishing
returns anyways, rarely being raised above 30 until much later on.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Intelligence is important to warri=
or
mages made up for by the bonus given to charisma, and lack of penalty to
discipline.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Depending on your=
 play
style the extra strength and weight limit bonus can come in very handy.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Often you will be carrying around =
dozens
of food items, toys, and weapons - so being strong is very useful.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Kaldar don&#8217;t offer many addi=
tional
roleplay options in Plat, except for you being one of the larger races.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>For some reason most of the women =
feel
all Kaldar are exceptionally handsome too, so that might work out for you!<=
span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><b style=3D'mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>Human:</b><sp=
an
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Humans have no advantages or
disadvantages stat wise.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>This=
 makes
it harder for me to recommend them, as diversity is what makes the game more
fun.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Overall humans don&#8217=
;t
have as many roleplay opportunities as a race in Plat.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>They are more mundane than any oth=
er
choice you see.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>If you want
balanced stats and don&#8217;t about not having additional roleplay content=
 to
draw upon, than let your imagination run free as a human. </p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><b style=3D'mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>Gnome</b>:<sp=
an
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Strength +3, Stamina +2; Reflex and
Intelligence -2, Agility -1<span class=3DGramE>;<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Gnomes</span> have some very strong
modifiers all across the board.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </sp=
an>As
a gnome in Plat you&#8217;ll find two avenues of roleplay immediately avail=
able
to you.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>One group of people <=
span
class=3DGramE>play</span> their gnomes like kids almost, very inquisitive a=
nd
speaking very simply.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Another=
 group
feels gnomes are very intelligent (which they are), and plays them as
such.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I&#8217;d have to say g=
nomes
aren&#8217;t very much feared in Plat, so if you&#8217;re making an
intimidating bloodthirsty gnome mage you will face some stereotypes along t=
he
way.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>The strength modifier wi=
ll be
a major problem in Plat where only a forger or two of armor exists.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Sorry, no ultra light super protec=
tive
chain is available.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>The penal=
ties
also cripple all spell versus stamina contests, because you&#8217;ll flat o=
ut
have a harder time keeping those stats up. But, if breaking necks with ice
patch is your things then gnomes might be your best bet!</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><b style=3D'mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>Rakash:<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span></b>Wisdom +2, Discipline +1; Refl=
ex -1,
Charisma -1; Rakash are definitely one of the lesser played races in Plat
I&#8217;ve noticed.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>Typ=
ically
I&#8217;ve noticed Rakash interact as if they are part of the same pride (or
pack?), not fostering resentment towards other Rakash.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Some have roleplayed difficulty
controlling <span class=3DGramE>themselves</span> while in moonskin, or bei=
ng
aggressive towards prydaens &#8211; both nothing extreme from what I&#8217;=
ve
seen.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>As a warrior mage
you&#8217;ll find the discipline penalty a bit disheartening.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Every contested spell, Targeted Ma=
gic,
and learning <span class=3DGramE>are</span> based off it.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>This can be partly countered by ha=
ving a
higher charisma though, and again wisdom isn&#8217;t as valuable over a cer=
tain
point.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I wish I could say the=
 reflex
bonus was a big help, but I haven&#8217;t been able to determine its affect=
 on
Spell versus Agility saves.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Remember though, moonskin brings claws and the fun that goes along w=
ith
it!</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><b style=3D'mso-bidi-font-weight:normal'>Halfling:</b>
Strength +2, Discipline +1, Wisdom +1<span class=3DGramE>;<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Agility</span> -2, Reflex -1, Stam=
ina
&#8211; 1.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Halflings are usua=
lly
referred to as Olvi in Plat, and only share some of the stereotypes usually
associated with them.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I only =
know
of one Olvi at the moment &#8211; and he&#8217;s a bloodthirsty ranger - a =
bane
to creatures across the land!<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span=
>The
smoking verbs and roly-poly images in most peoples&#8217; heads can be usef=
ul
for character development and roleplay.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nb=
sp;
</span>This is a race that can be very relaxing to develop.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>As for warrior mages they have pre=
tty
poor stats though.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>The streng=
th
penalty has its own problems much like gnomes.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Furthermore the learning difficult=
y will
be noticed quite quickly.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>The=
 can
really excel at SvA but keep in mind you&#8217;ll be vulnerable to WvW and =
SvS.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

</span>Dwarves are a bit scarce in Plat much like Olvi.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I&#8217;ve known a few and they te=
nd to

quite difficult to find light edge and other weapon types that beat store

such as Rayvne and Talace can make decent leathers and bows and are usually

</span>Tin Tog sells his armor through a trader named Profit Tog so it is b=

empaths and clerics, bards paladins barbarians and traders are brining up t=

ely
Blackfire has yet to be introduced in any major way into Plat &#8211; and
incinerate scrolls are nonexistent.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>If you plan on pursuing a career as a blackfire mage keep in mind it
will require some creative planning.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>That&#8217;s not to say things won&#8217;t be possible at some point,
but the GMs won&#8217;t just hand out scrolls because you &#8220;need&#8221=

armor.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I use it to not only i=

damage on foes I be fightin but also ta <span class=3DGramE>learn</span> me=
 skill
best.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Really a useful spell i=
f ye
dunna wish ta learn fire shard.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </sp=
an>It
also has a very low minimum preparation requirement of only two mana (versu=
s 4
in the other first tier spells), which makes it suitable especially fer ya
younger mages.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Aether Lash: This <span class=3DGramE>be</span> a toug=
h spell
ta cast.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It requires so many
streams that it nae be useful as a mainstream huntin spell before ye reach =

forty or so in the guild.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It =
does
inflict nice slicing wounds on yer enemy though, and seems ta occasionally
knock shields aside if they be getting in the way.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Fer nonlethal <span class=3DGramE>=
combat</span>
I prefer ta remove the sword-arm of my opponent with a nice aether lash and
then follow up with a good tongue lashin!</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Aether Cloak: An amazing spell fer protectin against t=
he
targeted magics.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>With enough =
mana
held nae any spell can get past ta hurt ye.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>When used with a shield yer nigh
invulnerable ta enemy mages.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>=
This
spell really becomes useful against fire atiks and fendryads and the like o=
nce
yer above 40 ranks in yer guild.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Gar Zeng: Oh tis a spell I could be cryin oe&#8217;r.<=

vorite
spell fer learnin and killin beasties.</span><span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Since the guild meddled with the m=

though it <span class=3DGramE>be</span> far less effective at both.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Still it deals a bit of nerve dama=
ge
even if ye dunna hit and that can sometimes be useful.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Finally, a barrage of mighty quick=
 casts
on a stunned er unconscious foe teaches better for the mana than any other
spell we have.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Tingle: This <span class=3DGramE>be</span> a spell I c=
ouldna

</span>Shields <span class=3DGramE>be</span> a warrior mage&#8217;s foe, and
tingle can easily and quickly remove such an obstacle.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I find when huntin and tryin ta <s=
pan
class=3DGramE>learn</span> a weapon I nae be skilled in, Tingle can let me =
learn
it all the same.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Static Discharge: Oh another spell that <span class=3D=

Discharge <span class=3DGramE>be</span> useful when yer getting swarmed by =

save me hide when overwhelmed and unable ta retreat.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Finally it <span class=3DGramE>be<=

most useful fer savin a friend in need.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nb=

</span>Just remember ta keep ethereal shields on yerself AND all yer friend=

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Lightning Bolt: Oh here be a staple of yer magical
arsenal.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>This spell <span
class=3DGramE>be</span> much more deadly than yer typical first tier spell.=

style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>In my opinion it <span class=3DGra=
mE>be</span>
much better than Aether Lash for most situations.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Those situations bein when hunting
things resistant ta electricity like gargoyles, or when ye canna see the
sky.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Overall Lightning Bolt n=
eeds
far less streams ta cast than Aether Lash, and totally bypasses their
shields.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Best when used when =
rainin
and with a mist in the area.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Ball Lightning: Well here be a spell I&#8217;d love ta=
 be
able ta use more often.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Unfortunately it just frustrates me.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>If raining and misty ye can cast it
rather easily but otherwise it is hard gathering the streams for it.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I&#8217;d be more apt ta use it if=
 only
I could make it last a bit longer.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Each hit is just slightly weaker than a lightning bolt strike so the
damage isn&#8217;t so bad.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>By
weaker I mean less likely ta hit too, so be careful when using it on hard
critters.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>And be sure ta <span
class=3DGramE>keep</span> pathway damage focused while it is in the room.<s=
pan
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>One nice thing I&#8217;ve <span
class=3DGramE>found,</span> is ye can cast multiple balls and push them all=
 into
adjacent rooms if mana be bad there.</p>

can easily take out very tough foes, and teach very well at the same time.<=

fiddling with the spell matrix again and so it is a very different spell th=

streams ta <span class=3DGramE>be</span> used, and is verry difficult ta
cast.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span><span class=3DGramE>So
difficult that you may consider waiting until circle 45 or 50 afore learning
it.</span><span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Regardless it is t=
he
best offensive spell we have &#8211; especially when fightin other guilds.<=

style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Ye see it will hit enemies in hidi=
ng,
and can be cast without targetin with less effectiveness.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Keep up a discharged ES on yer fri=
ends
ta protect them from blasts.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>=
The
electric charge cantrip is a nice way ta do this if ye dunna know Static
Discharge.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Frost Scythe: I&#8217;d like this spell more if it was=
 more
accurate.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It can be doin nice
damage, but often <span class=3DGramE>times</span> glances off some part of=
 the
enemy ta fall on the ground useless.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Since our guild been meddlin with the matrix it seems like the mana =
that
can be channeled into it be increased, and the many weapons now be harder ta
get.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>In all truth it only be =
a wee
bit worse than Aether Lance, and still useful versus creatures resistant ta
spears and arrows.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Rising Mist: A <span class=3DGramE>spell</span> I coul=
dna live
without.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It does so many usef=
ul
things ye see.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It helps ye hi=
de
better, protects ye from ranged attacks, reduces the streams necessary ta
harness the elemental powers of electricity magics, and more than anything =
it
doubles the effectiveness of yer frostbite spell.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Oh, and when in a fortress of ice =
it
lets ye put a room on it so no pesky lunar mages can be seein ye.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Frostbite: This <span class=3DGramE>be</span> one migh=
ty spell
fer use against other players and certain creatures.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I canna for the life of me unhide =
people
with it, but even if they stay hidden I know they willna be hurting me anyt=
ime
soon.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I find most creatures a=
re
hard ta <span class=3DGramE>affect</span> with this spell.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Rising mists is almost a necessity=
 fer
use in hunting monsters.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Noth=
ing <span
class=3DGramE>be</span> better than dropping a whole room of folk, then cle=
anin
um up with a speedy chain lightning.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Ice Patch: Nothin comes close ta the quick and dirty d=

best is the long stun and decent structural damage it inflicts on yer enemi=

ta be harmed by yer stamina affectin er will affectin spells ye may wanna t=

style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Another of me favorite utility spe=
lls ye
see.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It is mighty useful when=
 ye
know risin mist, as sneaky lunar mages can move moonbeams ta ye and see
inside.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>A mist up obscures <s=

class=3DGramE>ye</span> from view.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Other uses fer the <span class=3DGramE>fortress are</span> hidin from
assasins and thieves bent on ending yer life, and trainin in peace.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Monsters at melee will be captured=
 in
yer fortress, proving <span class=3DGramE>a nice way ta train</span>.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Veil of Ice: Ye never wanna be taken out right quick b=
y a
stray spell now do ye?<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Aether=
 Cloak
unfortunately makes it so ye canna cast any spells without dropping yer
protection. At least when yer using Veil of Ice ye can cast spells such as
Vertigo and Ice Patch, and ye know what I <span class=3DGramE>be likin</spa=
n>
best about Veil of Ice?<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It <s=
pan
class=3DGramE>be</span> that ye can cast it on other people!<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It is difficult to snapcast it, bu=
t good
nonetheless.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Fist of Stone: Well this spell <span class=3DGramE>be<=

is good fer making nice light throwin weapons, the damage from impactin an
enemy directly is weak.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Perha=

soon it will be strengthened by the guildleaders inta something more powerf=

makes a great combination against yer enemies.<span

gain access to areas ye&#8217;d not normally be able ta get to.<span

Crossings and Geni&#8217;s.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>I=
t gives
<span class=3DGramE>ye</span> a decent perception boost and performs a care=
ful
search of the area.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>With enou=
gh
skill ye can even point out discovered hidden things.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Unfortunately it <span class=3DGra=
mE>be</span>
a little too slow fer use in combat, as landin a strong frostbite or tremor

</span>I could see many a use fer this spell however in non-combat situatio=

verry powerful initial hit, and afterwards provides several decent hits iff=
n ye
can keep it loaded with rocks or fists of stone.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Curiously the ballista can pull <s=
pan
class=3DGramE>yerself</span>, yer friends, and even monsters ta the ground =
afore
firing off each round.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Carefu=
l ta
keep a sure footin on anyone ye dunna want ta fall.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Its usefulness in the rain is limi=
ted,
and even a rising mist makes it harder to place.<span

</span>Ye see it requires far too much preparation time, skill and mana ta =
cast

effects seem ta be quite weak as well, often times barely hurtin and only
pushin back advancing critters a wee bit.</p>

useful.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>It also increases yer
reflexes and agility, letting ye swing faster and take less hits in
combat.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>A steady increase in
balance will be observed that will further make <span class=3DGramE>ye</spa=
n>
resistant ta fallin over when stunned.</p>

</span>Unfortunately the damage dealt is usually minimal, but with skill ye=

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Swirling Winds: I truly believe this is a spell that a=

harnessing the power of the winds ta billow around yer body, defenses like
parry and evasion are greatly bolstered, up ta 100 ranks I&#8217;ve heard w=
hen
used to its fullest extent.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>O=
f all
the magics providing defenses, swirling winds is without a doubt the strong=
est.</p>

greatly reduces the power of frost scythe, totally protects against frostbi=

&#8211; but I&#8217;m nae sure if its doin anything substantial.<span

burnt iffn they try ta steal from <span class=3DGramE>ye</span>.<span

aware of when usin this spell is ye canna hide easily, and if ye cast it
without an ethereal shield out ye&#8217;ll fry yer own hide!</p>

</span>Perhaps ye didna learn Swirling Winds, and could make good use of the

is verry heavy and hindering, so I decided ta learn it far later in me

ta the unarmed goblins, better fer practicing targeted magics ye know.<span

of which is ranged so yer defenses dunna fall behind.<span

e in
here, ye should always have up yer defensive magics.<span

ve

unbalances them enough fer yer weapon ta quickly chop them up.<span

easier ta kill than the red ones, so fer the first few circles its best ta =
hunt

and frost scythe casts will quickly train yer magics beyond any other place=

even these with a strong Swirling Winds, YS, and Sure footing up.<span

began ta cast, I&#8217;d slap up an Aether Cloak, or collapse them with <sp=
